Enjoy Life and Thrive.
Well spring is not quite here, grey and green mizzle in the sky, our vitality levels can drag us down, as well as the weather. Here’s a reminder to cherish oneself, starting with one word “hygge” pronounced “hoo-ga”, it’s Danish translated as “cosiness” but it also means “wellbeing” in Norwegian.
So let’s give ourselves permission for some Hygge time. Here are some ideas; just think ‘me time for 20 minutes’, try taking some ‘being time’. Focus on doing nothing for a while, here are some ideas; snuggling in by the fire on your home lunch break, light a candle in a jar, watching TV under a blanket, have a cuppa served from your best china, and you can even share the moment with a friend.
Plan some cosy time, art, card making, reading, a nutritious snack, great music or small get-togethers with coffee and cake or beer and snacks. Go for a swim or walk and home for ginger and cinnamon tea with apple slices. Value restorative time spent on your own, stay joyous, maybe even light a candle at your home office desk, so while working you keep those good vibes going.
Hygge seems to me to be about being kind to yourself – indulging in mindfulness, self time, and having a nice time, forgetting life’s worries for just a bit, not beating yourself up or denying yourself anything. Instead find self love, be as kind to yourself as you would be to a fiend, this is known to be good for your immune system.
Hugge sounds a bit like the English word “hug”, for which the Oxford English Dictionary lists no origins, maybe they are linked. Give yourself lots cosiness of the soul and make hoo ga hug times in this damp cold early spring.
Immune boosters

Talking self nurture, our natural reserves of vitamin D are run low in the spring so don’t forget to top up your levels with food sources or a good a supplement. I recommend getting a tub of Elderberry Complex by Bionutri as a top up from The Natural Health Dispensary, https://naturaldispensary.co.
Take care of yourselves, happy hygge’s!
